Memories of a 70s Child

Memories of a 70's Child

I remember
Long hair,
Straight hair,
Pony tails,
and polyester.

I remember
T-shirts,
Tight shirts,
Tie-dye,
and polyester.
I remember
"Good Times,”
Nixon’s crimes,
Liberty
and polyester.

You know,
We
Needed peace, man,
We
Watched the Brady Bunch
We
Cried when Elvis died
We
Did the Disco Duck
and We
Wore
Polyester.

You know,
I
Liked halter tops
I
Played with Lemon Twists
I
Watched the NASA ships
I
Laughed at Carol Burnett
and I HATED
Polyester.

-author … me Once upon a time … but relevant to where I may head with this blog initially.

Question: Other GenXers … what do YOU remember of the society we grew up in?

  1. As a kid I played outside from sun up till sun down. My curfew was the sunset or Mom stepping out the front porch and yelling my name that I could hear a block away.

  2. Nice memory! I was a country girl who pretty much grew up outside . . . no curfew needed. We just came in when we were hungry or thirsty.
